Anoher Mini Project

But this one is rare...

dont know the year... but its a honda chaly. never made in the united states. only a few (5-10) throughout the entire country.

i technically illegally imported it. i didnt actually know what i had to do to get it here. my thought was, pay shipping, it arrives, SWEET. but wrong. (illegal) i guess im suppost to fill out epa and DOT paperwork, wait... wait... pay extra... wait.... then get it. i just bought it off yahoo japan, sent it here via EMS, 3 days later its at my door idk... worked. so whatever

Kinda like a scooter on crack

PLANS:::::

Specs on the blue one as in...?

It's got a lifan engine, so most likely a 125cc+ (Chinese engine. Comparable to my gpx 140)

It's got the same fenders I ordered for my trail, same type of headlight visor as mine, lowered, optional luggage rack, chrome doodads, and pretty paint.

My plan is to lower it the same way I did my trail (z50 fork legs and z50 shocks) and paint it a crazy color. You can get all the pieces on eBay real easy. It uses the same forks and wheels as a trail (which I happen to have extra of) all I need is the knee guard, seat, harness, good handlebars, and mainly a decent engine.

Man, you would be surprised how fast export shipments go. I can have something in Europe by tomorrow if I needed to.

Pat....I think the reason you were able to easily get it is probably how they shipped it and what they described it as. It's a "part of a bike" not an "assembled bike". That's probably why you didn't have to go through a lot of red tape. That's the kind of stuff I deal with daily.

edit: that's the way to get some foreign cars over here that weren't made for the US...... in pieces as a kit. "Pieces of" are classified differently than a complete car / bike / whatever. Then register as a "kit or custom car / bike / whatever" with the BMV

I know people that used to ship brand new Mexican VW bugs up here minus engine, tranny, and wheels and call it a car kit to get through customs.

WTF do you do will?

And, he put "motorcycle parts" instead of frame. I'm assuming that helped.

Guy at the post office said "hah, looks like you got a bent git-tar" (that's the way he said it. Git-tar lol)

yep....listing as "parts" got it through no problem.

I'm an "export specialist".
I basically help salespeople in my company with export sales and shipments, and I handle a couple of big accounts on my own (electrical parts and parts for gas/wind/steam turbines). I'm one of 4 in the entire company.
I'm on a first name basis with the company lawyer.....but not in a bad way.

edit: look at my occupation in my profile.

You had to tell him that, Will...now he's gonna ask you to "export" him to Asia.
