I'll admit. I'm racist. I hate people. Dogs, they are OK. I can even tolerate cats. But I hate people.

If you watched the news the Black Expo COO said shooting happen every weekend in downtown indianapolis, it is not just because of the expo. Bullshit! Crap like this happens every year at the expo, right along with grand theft auto goes up 200 percent the same weekend.

If they get rid of the IBE, then they need to get rid of the Brickyard 400 too. Crime goes up every time it comes to town. It's a definite reason to avoid the West Side for the entire weekend.

Lol no kidding. Sounds like blaming the Brickyard for what normally happens in that area of town. I've never heard of anything close to 3 separate shootings injuring 10+ people due to the Brickyard.

can I see your statistics please? I don't disagree that it's a reason to avoid that side of town, but, for traffic. I've yet to have racial slurs yelled at me or my car windows smacked in Speedway during the 500 or 400. Or in Clermont during the US Nationals. Or downtown during a Colts game, Pacers game, or the Final Four. I have while driving downtown during Expo weekend. If that makes me racist, so be it. I'm not saying get rid of Black Expo but things need to fucking change before next year.

As far as the parenting, even the damn "celebrity guests" can't behave themselves (Mike Tyson) If you have "role models" there for the event and they are committing violent crimes. How the hell do you expect the "kids" to. I really think parents should be held responsible. A juvenile can't do a lot of shit without a parent or legal guardian's permission or presence. Maybe if you hold them responsible for crimes somehow as well, you'll see better parenting?

Personally if I wanted small, nimble, good gas milage and no rust, I would own a Mini. However, I want space, fun to drive, loud as fuck, forced induction, hood scoop, and AWD.

Tony hit the nail on the head. It has everything to do with not having something to do for kids 20 and under in the evening. Add the poor parenting of letting kids run around unattended in their own city or any other and you have a formula for disaster. White, black, yellow, brown, same results.

Also, I agree with the post that said black is a race, not a culture. If it's about culture, maybe those events Friday and Saturday night should be music and dance from native countries, etc.

Question: Why can't we just celebrate where we are from? It's only a week or two earlier. Sure, I have Portuguese, Scotch-English, Polish, German, etc. in my blood, but I'm proud to be an American. If you're not, BUY A TICKET. C-YA!

hopefully the city's comments about "not going to be a free babysitter" are very serious and enforced next year. unfortuanately the people that do this probably don't care about what consequences they would face anyway...

I am reading some of the posts in this thread and my jaw hits the floor. I am as right wing and redneck as it gets, and I'm in shock at some of the replies in here. I have racial issues of my own, but I also have a brain, a decent education, and a natural sense of reason. I was raised in a house where race wasn't discussed and everyone was just the same...thats just how it was. I am ashamed to say that over time I have developed my own very strong opinions of the current state of our societies racial problems and that some of the promotional programs for one race are a direct slap in the face to my race. Many of those programs are the purest form of racism and segregation. Last terms election of a racial radical and the way the voting went down only further fueled my racial opinions.

All that said................... I can't see how people don't have enough reason to be able to distinguish the difference between the group of kids on the corner carrying guns and being gangsters, and the majority group of black people who are there to enjoy the expo for what it is meant to be. Most of the people there are not there to shoot people...they are people bringing their families to celebrate their heritage and take advantage of vendors and programs that are important to them. It is no different than any other celebration of race, country, or religion. People that aren't interested don't have to go.

Racist or not, some of you guys are saying shit that doesn't make you look good as white people and it is pretty fucking embarrassing.

Tony I don't know you well but I have known you a little for years and I don't know how you can come in here and read some of the shit these guys are writing and keep a level head. But I'm glad you spoke up because you are a perfect example of the people that are there to enjoy the event for what it is supposed to be, and in the face of multiple slams and insults came in here and saw through all that stuff. I would have had a much more emotional response if the tables had been turned on me like that. You are a better man than me.

I'm sorry, but the event in itself IS racist. Period.

That it may or may not be, but I think that none of us know enough about it to say. Your response to that is to make comments to try and be MORE racist about it? What does that help? I think there is a time and a place to discuss racial issues and maybe I'm wrong in saying this, but on a public car forum where you have acquaintances of the race in discussion, whom many people consider friends...just seems like a classless way to handle a pretty fragile issue.

To be honest I didn't expect better from you Bob. I don't know if you are as bold in person, but online I cringe every time I see your name next to a post. Someone reading your words would certainly be misguided as to your age.

Its just my opinion. Everyone was giving theirs, so there is mine. Take no offense.

Let me start with this: I was brought up that race is not an issue. Someone's color is just the skin pigment in their body. The person themselves determines who they are and not the color they are, or what country they are from, or what language they speak. I;m a firm believer in the fact that NONE of us were allowed to sit and pick what we would be before we were born and until you do, this whole race thing is bullshit.

OK.... sorry, I gotta say this.... "Fragile issue"? Serious? Get the fuck over it. We have a black president. If that doesn't show that the "fragile issue" is some made up shit to make someone inportant over a non-issue that I don't think people will ever get it. Slaves were freed 150 years ago. Equal rights were guaranteed 50 years ago. If anything, we've gone anti-white at this point.

Sorry you don't like it luke. Sorry I offend you in your fragile world. But I call it like I see it. Don't like what I say, you A.) don't have to read/listen to it and 2.) have the option to converse with me on your different opinion.

EDIT: I have to wonder why my moderate comments get singled out here and the more off the wall shit gets ignored. Looking for something to pick an e-fight over?

allot of it has to do with parenting as said. why are 10 year old kids out wandering downtown at 11 oclock at night. i mean these kids are being interviewed right after shots ring out and they just go to another corner and continue hanging out. if im somewhere, and people are getting shot, thast my cue to head home and call it a night. its not the event thats the issue, its after the event when people just start hanging out. the smart people are the people that head down there, go to the event and head home. its after the event that stuff starts happening. parents need to learn to look out for there kids and teach them common sence.

Which is precisely why the event needs to end. Because of the event, people are out on the streets downtown causing havoc. There's no way to avoid this with the event still being present. REMOVE the IBE from this city.

OK guys let's please not let this get out of control and force the mods to close this up. Keep it objective and not personal.

Thanks.

I didn't do it.... but I am wondering why my moderate comments are the ones he chooses to single out... I could go back and point out MUCH worse than anything I've said.
