Buying an abandoned home?

Does anyone here have any experience in buying abandoned homes? Theres a house near my neighborhood that I've always loved since I was little(big yard, in-ground pool, cool architecture), and in the last year, it's been left behind by the owners. It def needs work done to it, but it's worth it to me if the house isn't a total loss for one reason or another. I would obviously get a home inspector to check it out before I did anything, but my first hurdle is, who do I contact? I've looked on Indylandbank.com and it's not listed on there. I've tried a few numbers for the city but I can't get anyone to call me back or talk to me. I'd like to get started on this sooner than later.

Thanks for any help
-Grant

Honestly, the whole foreclosure thing last quite awhile. The house goes in limbo for a LONG time before anyone does anything with it. My step mom always watched these listings/houses like a freekin hawk.

I don't know the exact details on what happens, but in the end, with a little wait, you can come out with a house for 20-30k and a monthly payment of like 200$

Yeah, I don't mind waiting, but I haven't seen this house listed anywhere. I'm trying to figure out the status right now. Owning this house for $20-30k would be a f'ing dream come true lol.

If it's that one off of 31 on the right if you're going north built into a hill with the living room looking like one massive window, stay away, it's mine. :P

find a friend who's a realtor. a lot of times, they can find out what bank is in the process of forclosing it, etc. that way, you can have a head start and paperwork ready if/when it does go out to the public.
